Legal Anchor

In the field of legal consultancy, Legal Anchor lawyers have extensively consulted on a wide array of subjects for many organisations in the last two decades. Our lawyers have consulted on Marine Protected Areas Legal  and Policy Review, engaged by the Ghana Fisheries Recovery Activity, Feed the Nation /Tetratech, USAID sponsored initiative towards the establishment of Ghana’s first Marine Protected Area in Cape Three Points.

Our lawyers have  been part of a Committee of Ocean Experts engaged by the Department of Ocean Affairs  and Law of the Sea(DOALOS) of the United Nations to prepare Ghana’s first Ocean Governance Report on Ghana’s implementation of the UN Convention on the Law of the Sea, 1982, which was published in 2023. Also, one of our consultants provided expert legal opinion to International Union for the Conservation of Nature (IUCN) to conduct an analytical study of national policy, legal and institutional frameworks, including the opportunity costs of various options for REDD-Plus. Additionally, one of our consultants was a member of two-member expert legal team appointed by by the International Union for the Conservation of Nature(IUCN) and Growing Forest Partnership Land Tenure in Ghana on  the Incorporation of Customary Law in Land Administration and Areas of Intervention by the Growing Forest Partnership.  

One of our consultants was a Member of Panel of Experts contracted by the Royal Netherlands Embassy in Ghana to fashion rules for the establishment of a Six Million- Euro credit facility to Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene sector in Ghana He was also a Member of the International Panel of Experts appointed by the FAO (of the United Nations) and International Institute for Environment and Development (IIED) in the United Kingdom to review the Technical Guidelines for lawyers in the implementation of the Voluntary Guidelines on Governance of Tenure (VGGT) relating to land, forestry and fisheries. One of our experts assisted the late Prof  Evelyne Meltzer of the Department of Fisheries and Oceans of Canada on preparation of the Global Overview on the Governance of High Seas Fisheries and the United Nations Fish Stocks Agreement, 1995 for the  Review Conference from 1-5 May 2006 held in St. John, Newfoundland, Canada.
